Fab ‘n’ Funky #488 - Sunshine Colours

Hi all, feels like forever since I found time to blog - probably not so much found the time, I have plenty of that in this post (almost) Covid world, more I am having so much trouble keeping my grip on this new reality that blogging has taken a bit of a back seat.

Well, as I have a tenuous grip at the moment, I thought I’d make the most of it and get a post up quick!  This week at Fab ‘n’ Funky, the challenge is sunshine colours, Red, Orange, Yellow and this played to my love of getting inky and playing with my favourite Spectrum Noir, Harmony Water Reactive inks, I thought I’d also combine it with my love of fairies as well!

I hope you love this card as much as I enjoyed making it, definitely sunny colours and designed to make you smile!

Hope you’re all also smiling and staying safe!

Fab ‘n’ Funky Challenge #482 - Anything but a card

Well, it’s been ages since I last posted on my blog, in fact, it was just about when the lockdown first started!  That seems like an absolute lifetime ago now.  So much has happened and yet I’ve not been anywhere (and pretty much neither has anyone else).

Anyway, life goes on, albeit restricted, and it’s now time for another Fab ‘n’ Funky Challenge, this week its “anything but a card”, I really had to think about this and then suddenly realised (doh!) that I had been making masks recently and so I have used this as my entry this week.  It was quite lovely to return to one of my older crafts, I haven’t done much by way of sewing in recent years as card making has rather taken over, but its amazing how quickly these things come flooding back to you!

I found several very useful tutorials on YouTube and settled on one that seemed to work for me - nearly had to change my mind as I couldn’t find my elastic initially, it was hiding in plain sight!  I managed to get 4 masks from one fat quarter and will definitely be making more of these for trips to the supermarket.

They’re not perfect (always my own worst critic!) but with a pocket for a filter, I think they will definitely be useful.

Anyway, hope you can join us this week and I look forward to seeing all your makes.

Trying to hold it together

Hi everyone, trying to keep things as normal as possible, given that NOTHING seems to be normal anymore.  My commute to the office involves going from the front room to the dining room, my daughter is on lock down due to underlying health conditions TV has got depressing and as for the news, well, positively apocalyptic!

Still, we are all well and the earth is still turning, we have a roof over our head, food in the cupboard and money in the bank, so I mustn’t complain (heck, I’m British, it’s what we’re good at!).

Anyway, I hope you are all staying safe and finding plenty of time for crafting, this weeks challenge over at Fab ‘n’ Funky is masculine - now this is a real challenge as so many of us find it difficult to make cards for men.  For this card, I’ve used one of my favourite Sara Signature Collections “Nautical”, together with one of the lovely new Gatefold sentiment dies.

I really love this card, those shells are so much fun to make and I definitely feel that any man would feel quite special being given this! (Well, I hope they would anyway!).

Thanks for stopping by and I look forward to seeing your makes this week.

Fab ‘n’ Funky #472

Hi all, well we come to another new week and another new challenge over at Fab ‘n’ Funky  and this week’s theme is black and white with a hint of pink.  This just screamed to me to get out my gorgeous. 8x8 background stamp from Crafters Companion.  It allowed me to just stamp the background in black and white and then stamp the individual flowers and colour these in.  I love the monochrome look, it reminds me of the old black and white and technicolour films like the Wizard of Oz and A Matter of Life and Death.

These stamps really do allow you to make really quick cards (the flowers are coloured with Colourblend Pencils).

Anyway, hope you really like this and I look forward to seeing all your makes this week.

Looking to the Fuchsia!

Well, here we are, it’s Wednesday 26th February, can’t believe we’re nearly 3 months into the year already.  Here’s a depressing thought for you - this time in 10 months, Christmas will be over again!

Sorry, on a much more positive note, it’s time for another Fab ‘n’ Funky challenge and this weeks theme is hand made or die cut flowers, so for my card I’ve used the gorgeous layering stamps and dies from Crafters Companion to create some gorgeous fuchsias.

Simple but fun, I’m a huge fan of fuchsias, must play with these in other colours (and play with the other flowers available as I have them all!).

Hope you manage to find the silver lining on this rather cold and damp Wednesday and I look forward to seeing all your cards!.

Love is in the air!

Well, another week and another Fab ‘n’ Funky challenge, and this week the theme is Love, love, love, well, it is Valentine’s Day on Friday, that traditional time of year when restaurants charge more, and supermarkets and advertisers try to convince us to spend more on wine, chocolate and flowers.

After nearly 28 years married myself, I am somewhat cynical of Valentine’s Day as I’m a firm believer that love is for every day of the year and is shown in a million tiny ways that have nothing to do with spending a few quid on February 14th.

Anyway, that all said, I’m still capable of showing my affection in the form of a card and here’s my make for the theme this week.

A simple two colour card using items from Sara Signature ranges (always a favourite go to).

And for all my cynicism I really do look forward to seeing your makes this week.

Seriously, if I had a brain I’d be dangerous!

Wednesdays happen every week, same time, same day, it really isn’t that difficult, or it shouldn’t be, I was even prepared ahead of time and had a card made for this week’s Fab ‘n’ Funky challenge at the weekend.  What I should have done, should have but didn’t! Was to schedule a post, it’s not like I don’t know how to, just kept meaning to and didn’t do it.

So there I was in the shower about half an hour ago (I know, too much info!) and I suddenly realised that I hadn’t posted my card for the challenge this week.  My massive apologies to my teamies and also to all you crafters out there - I’M SO SORRY!!

Anyway, the card was ready, so here it is for challenge number 466 and it’s Christmas - YAY!!!!!!

The image was stamped from a Mulberry Wood Christmas stamp by Crafters Companion from a few years ago and coloured with Aquablend pencils, I tried to keep the background quite plain so that the image could sing (although you can’t see the sparkle that was added to the image after it was coloured.

Anyway, hope you like the card and I really look forward to seeing your Christmas makes this week.

Make one Christmas Card Every Week during 2020

Well, this facebook group returned this year, and I’m so pleased because I get a new chance to see if I can make it beyond week 5!  Which seems to be about my limit so far.

This week the optional challenge is Pink and White, which, initially I thought was going to be too tough for me, but then on one of my many wanderings on Pinterest, I came across a beautiful one layer card by a lady called Deanna, it was just beautiful! (Link Here) and I thought I might be able to use this as the basis for my card, so here it is:

It’s incredible to believe that it was created with snowflake stamps from a couple of older Sara Signature Collections (Winter Wonderland Snow Season stamps and Scandinavian Christmas Flakes & Swirls stamps), together with  a sentiment from Crafters Companion Winter Wishes stamp set and three colours of Quick Dry Ink, oh, and a few gems!

I’m so happy with this card, I’m already planning on re-creating it with different colours and card shapes, this will get me on the road to actually prepared for Christmas this year (that would be a first!).

Anyway, just had to share this one with you as I’m really pleased with it, and that doesn’t happen often either!

Fab ‘n’ Funky #464

Well, Happy New Year!  I know I’m very late with the New Year wishes, but I’ve just realised that I’ve not posted on here since the celebrations, so late as they are, Happy New Year anyway!

This weeks challenge over at Fab ‘n’ Funky is Angels, and whilst I’m taking part in the Make one Christmas Card Every Week during 2020, I thought I should at least try to make something non-Christmas, and I remembered a lovely stamp I have from Crafters Companion with the sentiment “Feathers appear when angels are near” and decided to go with this.  I also found some lovely feathers stamps and a die too! (okay, I had to spend about an hour hunting for them, but I did find them!) and this card came into being.

I love the simplicity and, it’s completely un-Christmassy!

Well, hope you have a happy “hump day” and I look forward to seeing your angel cards.
